Bali trip - Day 3

It was morning 9am of our 3rd day in Bali. After checking out from the hotel, we headed for sightseeing at the Kintamani Volcano.

Stopping in front of a traffic light junction of a busy street, there were many guys like this carrying newspapers and magazines of not only the Bali's, but also the other countries. They were just walking on the busy streets like this, in between and among the cars, asking for the people sitting in the car to buy.

We stopped by at the Jalan Raya Celuk, Sukawati, the central of Gold and Silver Smithing and Jewellery designers.

We went into one of the silver smith shops (there were almost tonnes of them along the street, big and small), to find out how did they process and handmade the silver jewelleries. And everything in here was indeed handmade, and of course time-consuming.

The unpolished silver chains, by its delicate appearance we already knew it took a long time to complete each.
All the silver products here were made of 92.5% pure silver.

The glue used to put tiny silver parts in place before they were burnt at high temperature to be sealed together permanently.

the red beans on right top were what the glue made of; the little black fruit on the middle bottom was which its paste from within can be used to wash the silver.

Silver polish solution.

The mold used to make various sizes of silver beads.

Various, long, time consuming steps to be taken before a silver jewellery can come to this stage!

This silver buffalo carriage is going to cost a bomb...

So is this silver arowana too! It is really beautiful!

And gals are always happy with just any jewellery! We went crazy looking at the silver jewelleries, so nicely made, each of us got ourselves something from the store!

Balinese are experts of carrying stuff on their heads.

Puri Saren Agung (Ubud Royal Palace), Jalan Suweta.
It was the home of the last king of Ubud, and now his descendants live there. It is essentially the father palace of the other Ubud palaces, which are more or less its spinoffs, built as the family extended.
There were dance performance in the courtyard in the evenings here.

The stage where musicians play the instruments on.

The Ubud Market, it is a double-storey buiding in the middle of the market, accomodates uncountable stalls with various goods both storeys.
As in other places in Bali, everything you buy here, you must bargain a good price for yourself beforehands, however, the people here were not that friendly as compared with the others in the other places. They got angry when you refused to buy stuff from them, or they refused to reduce any bit of the price, as most of them were cooperating among themselves to not dropping price any bit forcing you to buy more expensive stuff in general, and yeah, most of the stalls were owned by the same boss, whichever stalls you went, the money is just going into the same person's pocket.

The stalls and goods were arranged in a way that did not leave you much space to walk in between!

All sorts of silver goods you can find here. Most are handicrafts.

The umbrellas, both for sales and shade.

Ibu Oka's Babi Guling - The famous Babi Guling (Roasted pig) in Bali, located at Jalan Suweta, Ubud. Just opposite the Ubud market.
Babi Guling is one of the signature dishes of Bali, you can find it anywhere in Bali, but this restaurants seemed to be having the most crowds.

The restaurant was never without crowds! There were no chair, we just sit down on the mat on the floor.
There are many types of bottle drinks in Indonesia that we must try.

Frestea- Jasmine green tea

Sosro- fruit tea

Sosro- red tea

The messy kitchen!

The restaurant called it a suckling pig, hey, its size told us that it is definitely a grower pig!

The lady was skinning the roasted pig.

The crispy crunchy roasted skin

Babi guling+ Rice (price ranging from Rp 28k to 40k per plate, depends on the serving portions and parts of the roasted pig)

The skin of the roasted pig was indeed very crunchy, went well with the tender meat, there were also some fried pig ofals which I would not know which parts were they. The sauce was again too hot that almost numbed my tongue and lips. I like the vegetable side dish though. And yeah, the rice tasted better with more soya sauce from the table!

And then we finally reached at hilltop of Kintamani, where we were able to overlook the Volcano and its crater lake (Mt. Batur) from.
I have no idea how high were we at, it must be over 1500m above sea level, as the air was cooling, slightly windy. It was too bad that the area was too foggy that we did not manage to have a clear view of the volcano.

There were many bungalows by hill sides.

This place was actually a great place to visit, the street was supposed to be quiet, peaceful and cooling without many cars crossing by. However there were many of these irritating mechandisers who followed tourists every where they go, pestering tourists to buy goods from them, not only do they selling goods at higher price than other places, they also cheat. They totally ruined our mood being there, forcing us to leave the place quickly to avoid them.

Aditya Beach Resort at Lovina, where we lodged our 3rd night in Bali.

Enjoying our welcome drinks while checking-in.

It was another Hotel that we lodged in that surrounded us wi

Our cozy double bedroom.

Every room has its own attached balcony.

There were no other place to go around in Lovina, by night, most stores were closed. We were left with no choice buy to dine in the resort owned restaurant.

Getting bored waiting for our dinner being served. There was no other people in the restaurant as it was already a late dinner, yet it took forever for the dinner to be served.

The prawn crackers to stuff our mouth while we waited for long for dinner.

My mixed fruits ice-cream, best thing I had for the dinner, in Bali.

A very plain taste tom yum gung which eeyaks...

chicken chop

Cordon-bleu - it was a bit over-fried as you can see from the color.

Hot plate Pork steak
Fried rice
Special fried rice - the difference was the extra satay, prawns and fried chicken

It was just like our local Malay food, Nasi Paprik...

In conclusion, it was not easy to find a good restaurant serving western food in Bali, however, after a few days being in Bali having our tongues numbed by the overly hot-n-spicy Balinese food, we would really like to try something PLAIN in taste...

Balinese food is not to my liking as they do not has any other taste than fried food, salty and hot-n-spicy.

And it is not every country that you go that they serve as nice food as Hong Kong, Shang Hai, and Taiwan do.... haha.
