Ruinas de S. Paulo / Ruins of St. Paul's / 大三八牌坊

Location: Walking distance from Rua de Santo Antonio 花王堂街 or Rua Horta da Compannia 高园街
The ruins of St. Paul's refer to the facade of what was originally the Church of Mater Dei built in 1602-1640, destroyed by the fire in 1835, and the ruins of St. Paul's college, which stood adjacent to the Church. As a whole, the old Church of Mater Dei, St. Paul's College and Mount Fortress were all Jesuit constructions and formed what can be perceived as the Acropolis of Macau.

Restaurant A Lorcha 船屋餐厅

location: Rua do Almirante Sergio 河边新街

A Portuguese restaurant where you get to taste the genuine Portuguese cuisine, opened by Portuguese.

Must call to make reservation before going to make sure you don't end up coming back empty handed. It 's always fully booked even on weekdays all day long, not to say weekends and public holiday. Closed on tuesday.

Phone number: 313193, 313195.

The interior makes you feel as if you are under the deck of a wooden ship, as goes with the name of this restaurant - Ship. The staff in here are all speaking both cantonese and portuguese, a light Mandarin is also understood.

The hot oven baked breads were served before the main course came. To go with the cube of butter, it tasted so great that it filled the hungry stomach just nice, crispy on the outside, soft in the inside.

Grilled Bacalhau 烧马介休

- Bacalhau, salted fish of Portuguese, is one of the highlight of Portuguese cuisine which can be prepared in more than a thousand delicious ways.

- This dish came with a lot of onions and garlics grilled with Bacalhau, a huge sweet steamed potato, tomato slices, lettuce, and olive.

- The bacalhau is best goes with the potato as it would be too salty.

Portuguese Seafood Rice 葡式海鲜饭

- i guess they were using a different type of rice, as it appeared bigger and firmer to chew. The pot of baked rice came with fresh shrimps, sliced squids, clams, chunks of fish and an empty crab shell topping on.

Fried fish fillet with tomato rice 鱼柳番茄饭

- the tomato rice really tastes good, together with the tender crispy fish fillet.

Portuguese Chicken 葡式鸡

- this one is a bit different from the portuguese chicken that we used to have tried in Malaysia. It tasted like our local curry!

Biscuit Cream Cheese Cake 忌廉芝士饼干蛋糕
- this is a must-try. Even though we were so full after having the main course, just after a teaspoon of the cheese cake, and we can't stop anymore! Indeed, people do have another stomach for dessert.
- The cream cheese cake was not baked but fridged, topped with crush of biscuit, very unique taste, and unforgettable.

Lord Stow's Bakery 安德鲁蛋塔店
Selling mainly Portuguese eggtarts (Pasteis de Nata), cheese cakes, cupcakes and etc.
Best time to buy eggtarts as they are freshly baked and released at 10-11am and 2-3pm.

The origins of macau's portuguese eggtarts came from here..... so it is a must-try also.

Location: Vila de Coloane / Coloane Village / 路环市区中心挞沙街 1 号
It is crowded with tourists and also local at the eggtart release hours. It is funny to find the tranquil street suddenly full of people at one particular shop.

Nothing special to look at nearby, the shop is the main attraction, and we actually need to take a cab to come here on purpose.

Yummy crispy eggtarts, even still crispy overnight.
