Ros Marino Italian Restaurant, Johor Bahru

Location: Jalan Kuning, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.

Was told one of the best authentic Italian cuisine restaurant in Johor Bahru, and its indeed true.

Price: Set Lunch was only RM15 for a main course (a few options to choose from) and a soup of the day.
Ala carte main courses range from RM20-50. Beverages range from RM9-20....
Average RM30-50 per pax.

Aglio olio spaghetti with grilled chicken chop;
Linguine funghi;
Fish and Chip with tartar sauce;
Cafe latte;
Mango parfait;
Tiramisu;
Soup of the day;
Seafood pizza.

VIA MAR @ Singapore Art Museum

Location: Singapore Art Museum

There are a number of unique restaurants available in the Singapore Art Museum, and this restaurant Via Mar is one of the restaurant in Singapore which provide authentic Spanish cuisine.

This is not a really big restaurant, but can only accommodate about 10 tables in it.

The beverage being served there were just of average standard, nothing fancy.

However the food are fantastic!, from appetizer to main course, they are quite authentic and delicious.

Soup of the day, Seafood Chowder;
Breads for tapas;
Sautéed mushroom as tapas;
Seafood paella.

Price: About SGD40-50 per pax including tax, for full course meal.

TIM HO WAN - Michelin star rated HongKong DimSum Restaurant

Location: Plaza Singapore, Singapore.

The Hong Kong famous Michelin star rated DimSum restaurant open its first branch in Singapore. Immediately drawing alot visitors, was told to have sold >8000 baked Charsiew bun per day. Average time for the queue before each visitor can get a table to dine in is believed to be 1hour, depending on the hour of the day.

Clockwise from top left to bottom:
- steamed egg cake, steamed dumplings, steamed fresh shrimp dumplings, the logo, steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce, deep fried spring rolls with shrimps.

From left to right, top to bottom:
- Baked bun with BBQ pork (Baked charsiew bun) and its middle filling, Glutinous rice in lotus leaf, Siew Mai (Steamed pork dumpling with shrimps), tonic medlar and petal cake, pan fried turnip cake.

Taste: Generally taste above average for standard of Singapore. However, not as good as what available in Hongkong.

Price: each item price is slightly higher than average dimsum restaurant. range SGD3.50 to SGD6.00.

Interior: With the price you paid, you only get to dine on a tiny table, most of the time forced to share table with other customers. Space in between rows of tables are also just nice to pass a person width. Interior is more like a char-chan-teng (canteen) that we normally see in HongKong. Because of the crowd, customers will not be able to eat leisurely but forced to finish food as soon as possible and leave.

Service: Too few attendees to serve too big a crowd of customers. Ordering and serving of items are chaos, we either experienced duplicate of items served, or items being served to the table next to us while we actually came first+order first but ordered same items. Must always check if bill is charged correctly before paying. However, waiters are friendly.

Choices: They've got the essentials. If you are looking for variety, sorry, not here.

Food In Korea

Finally got the chance to taste the authentic Korean Cuisine in Korea.

They are not really much different from our local Korea restaurant, it is the local ingredients available in Korea which are not available locally here that makes the difference.

Food that you can find at normal food court:

Tempura prawn with curry and gyoza.... Korean food is largely influenced by Japanese food as well... but in Korea, any food must come with Kim Chi, the fermented chilli cabbages.

Fried Pork Cutlet rice, Korean people likes to eat rice a lot, their servings are really big. I heard the local said some of them maybe only eat one decent meal a day and other meals are much simpler and light.

Kimchi soup cold noodle.

BBQ drumlets.

Squid and caviar bibimbap (mixture of vegetables and squid and chilli sauce and rice.)

****************

In korea, most of their food are cooked in a pot. I think they are pretty lazy chefs, Lolz...., they just marinate meats and cook everything in a pot with only kimchi sauce or chilli sauce.

Ajuma (middle-aged lady in Korean language) is helping to stir the food in proper way.

BIBIMBAP, mixed every thing in a stone grilled bowl with chilli sauce, I personally like this Korean food very much.

Soup or BBQ or Stir fried, Korean Food is all about all in a pot.

A must-not-miss-to-try breakfast in Jeju Island of Korea --- Abalone Porridge

Soft butter bun with a fried egg

and a variety of side dishes...

It is such a luxury to have abalone in the porridge for breakfast, it did not smell fishy at all because of the fresh seafood ingredients.

The restaurant is just located beside a fishing port.

Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup

Chicken soup made with Korean famous locally produced Ginseng

Ginseng Chicken Soup in Stone Hot pot

The set meal comes with some rice noodle and rice wine.
To either drink the rice wine just like this or to pour it into the soup to make the taste richer

Korean Daily Meal

This is an example of Korean daily family meal.
ALot of side dishes again, the main dishes will be the grilled fish, pork, and steam eggs.

And the seaweed soup of course

Pork produced from Black Swine is famous product in Jeju Island of Korea.

You can find Black Pork Cuisine anywhere in Jeju.

The pork is generally more juicy and tender without too much of fat layer.

Korea is surrounded by Sea. Seafood is also local delicacy here.

Famous steamboat restaurant visited by a few celebrities as well

Alot of side dishes

Raw live abalone again, still moving lively, raw squids and octopus, prawns.

Sashimi, raw fish

Thursday

Carffee coffee bar

Location: 51-01, Jalan Molek 2/1, Tmn Molek, 81100 Johor Bahru

URL: https://www.facebook.com/pages/CaRFFee-Coffee-Bar

The signage of the cafe is big enough to notice from outside on the road, however, the cafe is situated at 2nd floor of a corner shoplot. It is a hotel at groundfloor.

The cafe gives you an image totally different from what you saw from outside with the weird hotel below. The cafe itself is rather much more fashionable and architecture.

The stainless steel menu is really heavy

Grape juice tea

Smoked duck garden salad - the smoked duck is tender and juicy, goes well with the fresh veggie, good try

Mochaccino and macadamia latte

Seafood risotto - tasted more like a baked rice than a risotto. I would give a BAD comment to this dish.

Tiramisu - was being recommended as the cafe's signature.
If it's supposed to be a signature, then I would expect more, and I was a bit disappointed.

I will recommend this, Mix fruit waffle, this should be the signature.

Spring chicken - not bad

Overall price range at about Starbuck's/ Coffeebean's. Good ambient for an afternoon high tea. Service quality was above average. Worth to pay for a few more visits.

Agnes B Cafe le pain grille, HongKong

URL: www.agnesb-lepaingrille.com

it's a self-service cafe, ordering at the counter --> Pay --> Bring your own tray of patisserie and coffee to your own table...

Price range is reasonable, not unaffordable, and most importantly, they are all tasty! Must try all.

The fridge displaying all their selection of patisserie.

The counter.

Looking at them already made ones satisfied and fulfilled with happiness of dessert cravings.

Each patisserie has a romantic name:

Lucie
-  cream cheese cake with chocolate and biscuit crumble at bottom

Valerie
- I've never like chestnut, but this is really good, not too sweet. Chestnut mousse with vanilla sponge cake

Vanille
- vanilla custard puff pastry with walnut, it's a must try!

Danielle
- chocolate+ french coffee cream liqueur + chocolate sponge cake

Cappuccinos.
