MeiShan SzeChuan Chinese Restaurant

Location: Mutiara Hotel, Johor Bahru (Next to Holiday Plaza, nearby KSL city)
the signboard

the interior is very chinese

Yee Sang, RM48, special menu for Chinese New Year, all the ingredients provided in this plate are not better than any package you can get in any supermarket, with only a few very thinly sliced salmon which I can hardly find any of them after mixing up, a big puke.

See, gone our salmon slices in the mess.

mixed platter, left: sweet-sour fried chicken dices, top: vermicelli rolls, right: spicy and sour shitake mushrooms salad (good try), bottom: Yam puff with BBQ chicken. ABove average taste with new cooking recipe.

It tasted like Gong Bao shrimp balls, so-so only.

Roasted duck with golden buns, a signature dish of the restaurant, must try. But it is really very expensive compared to any other restaurant.

Mapo Tofu (Hot and spicy bean curd ) a very original taste, the spicy rate was just right. Very up to standard of a genuine Sze Chuan Cuisine.

Fried Cantonese noodle

Dessert - egg white puff with red bean paste

the puff was made with whipped fluffy egg white which was fried into bun shaped, topped with icing sugar. Soft in texture.
the filling was smooth red bean paste

Barcelos Portuguese BBQ

Location: Vivocity @ Singapore

BBQ Portuguese cuisine in fastfood style. Most are chicken and beef....

BBQ chicken breast meat with egg and cheese in pita bread comes with a side dish of choice, which we had chosen chicken soup.

And this is the chicken soup of our side, unlike other chicken soup we had ever taste before,it taste like chicken broth rich in corn flavor

Quarter BBQ Chicken Meal comes with 2 side dishes of choice, and we took coleslaw and spicy wedges

Chicken BBQ Skewers comes with 2 sides of choice, we chose garden salad and fragrance rice

Everything cost us only SGD50 including can drinks. Meals are served fast. Worth trying, the only shortage is that most menu are chicken, kinda sick after eating so much chicken meat in a meal....
Tables and Seats are limited and are always full during meal time, not easy to find table. The ventilation is not sufficient that clothes will be smoked BBQ after dining in.

HONEYMOON DESSERTS

Location: Vivocity @ Singapore

Beancurd in sesame paste

Mixed fruit sago in coconut milk

Fresh mango and black glutinous rice in coconut milk

Mango shake
Black glutinous rice pudding

Overall: Average only, only that the choices are a lot, not as good as what we had in HongKong.

Sunday

Set Lunch at Friends Restaurant@Jelita

Location: Cold Storage Jelita Building at 293 Holland road, Singapore.

We bought discount coupon from deal.com.sg which entitled us for a "4-course seafood fiesta set meal" at the restaurant at only SGD19.90++

We can choose either soup of the day (which is veggie soup), or mushroom soup with truffles sauce (which have to top up SGD5)

Starter: Either Crispy scallop rolls with Wasabi Mayonnaise sauce OR Fresh marinated mussels

Appetizer:
This is what we ordered beyond the set meal
Tuna sashimi salad --> chunks of tuna sashimi pan-fried at only the outer later, very fresh and juicy.
A few options of main courses to choose from:
- Carbonara pasta (top up SGD5, big serving size)
- Grilled steak (top up SGD5)
- Triplet turkey+Duck+chicken roll

Baked fish fillet with sliced baked potatoes

BBQ pork rib and pork shoulder slices with mash potato

Dessert would be either chocolate brownies (top up SGD2 for add-on ice cream) or Volcanic lava chocolate cake with ice cream (top up SGD5).

And either hot tea or hot coffee at the end of the meal.

Location wise, it's easy to find but not easy to reach without traveling in cars. Service is average. Tastes are great and ingredients are fresh. Worth trying with promotions.
