Victoria Station

Victoria Station Restaurant

Date: 14 March 2007

Location : Jalan Ampang

Ambience rate: 4/5. The restaurant was themed as a railway station. I would have expected it to be more like a British railway station. Yet, it was more like a Malaysian Boleh station, with all the "Visit Malaysia tourism year 2007" stickers all around... Ha.... Well furnished, not bad but can be improved more... still, a good comfortable place to dine in.

Service rate: 3/5. The service must be improved. The waiters did not know how to make recommendations from their own menu. Make us wait for more than 15minutes for our desserts to be served and another 20 minutes to bill. We did not mind waiting, but ur waiters did not inform us that we have to wait, and how long we need to wait. Same thing went with billing. After tired of waiting, we realised that it was best that we bill at the counter straightaway. This was quite ridiculous for a non-self-service restaurant like this. I think it was because the service focused at the central dining area. We were dining in the train cabin so they hardly noticed us.... :(

The train cabin that we dined in.

Taste rate: 4/5. We loved all the main courses served, especially the Phoenix dragon combo. It was so delicious, one thing about it that must be improved is that the chicken meat was overly cooked that it was so hard to chew and even to cut.

The menu

Hot Vienna coffee with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and a thickly prepared Chocolate milkshake

Pure Honeydew juice

Sirloin steak with white mushroom sauce - mediumly cooked, topped with white mushroom sauce mingling with a fragrant of brandy. A portion well suitable for two.

Grilled fish fillet... with salad and dressing of choice. The dory fish fillet was tenderly grilled...yum yum...

Fish & Chips... nice, but isn't it too dark the fish fillet look like?

Phoenix dragon combo - half a lobster baked with cheese (damn nice taste) and a piece of hard-to-chew chicken breast meat (=_="").

Mandarin chicken chop... the sweet& sour sauce cooked in the chinese method on the tenderly BBQ chicken chop, nice try.

Fisherman's seafood platter- fish and chips, fried fresh scallops, squids and prawn. The fresh ingredients themselves already made the taste great.

Dessert (for 2 persons) - wine soaked cake with cubes of fruits such as peach, watermelon, pineapple, etc, topped with a thick layer of cream. Before served, the cream top was burnt with wine until golden brown in color. Good try, nice taste for wine+ cake lover.

Banana split - Quite disappointed with its ordinary ice-cream and banana. Nothing special, any mamak stall can serve as well.

Price Rate: Reasonable, cheaper than TGI Friday. I think I have better dine-in experience at the Victoria than in the TGI all over the Klang Valley (I still like Johor Bahru TGI the best!!! Best rated.). I recommended this restaurant and I'm sure I will visit it again.

Goodbye, Ah Bee

Date: 07-03-2007

I can’t believe that I actually had to farewell 3 lovely dogs in less than half a year time. What happen? Life seems to be so fragile these days! Or was I too unlucky?

Again, me and my housemates cum coursemates, arrived at the cremation pound with the cold and hard body of Ah Bee, a Shih Tzu male dog.

Everything happened so suddenly, yesterday we were still so happily living together with the two dogs in the house, playing with them. This morning, with just one unpredictable accident, one precious life was taken away so easily and mercilessly.

No one was to be blamed for the accident. It was Ah Bee’s fate to have lived such short life.

Oh God, what sin had Ah Bee done that You must take him away from us so fast?! He’d probably just started to have a better life since 2 years ago that his owner, our friend, adopted him. He was such an adorable unique dog, and deserves a better life longer!
I hope that it is not a retribution that we, vet, took a lot of lives away.

Whenever this kind of thing happens, I would always wish that time could be returned; I would always hope that things could be changed. However, the reality is that the life of our beloved ones would never be revived.

Thing started this morning when we were just about to leave for school. I wasn’t at the scene when Ah Bee met with the accident. All I saw was a pool of blood clotting on the floor and Ah Bee had already been sent to the UPM Vet Hospital (UVH).

When we arrived at the UVH, the first and worst news that we received was Ah Bee died on the way there.

The moment when I rushed into the room, I saw Ah Bee covered with damn lot of blood mainly all over the head and some on the body, his big eyes stared open. There was no external injury, all the blood was actually vomited out from the mouth due to internal bleeding….there was also blood came out from both ears. My dear, I couldn’t stop myself from thinking what kind of pain and how unendurable it was for Ah Bee to suffer before he died. With shaken hand, I touched on Ah Bee’s face. It was so cold and senseless…..and tears blurred my eyes….Everything happened in less than just 20minutes!!!

We brought the body home for cleaning. Blood clots flowed along with the water stream all over the floor.

With a quick appointment made with the person in charge of the Pet’s Memorial Service, James, we sent Ah Bee for cremation. It was too sudden that we only managed to prepare a simple box for Ah Bee to rest in…..

The last view of AhBee, resting in a box.

Robyn, Ah Bee's mummy, damn sad upon his death.

Ah Bee's ash. Now in our house.

Comments : No next time either. Nothing to attract me.

Food & Tea Hong Kong Restaurant

Food & Tea Hong Kong Restaurant

Location : Jaya Jusco, Cheras Selatan.

Date : 01 March 2007

Service rate : 1/5. Damn poor service. All young waiters that do not know how to serve customers in there. They don't know how to introduce their menu, they don't know just anything about service.

Ambience rate : 2.5/5 . Nice furnished. But I can't imagine how come the sofas can be so dirty when this restaurant just started business since 3 months ago.....what a waste and poor management.

Minced pork + dried oyster porridge, RM4.80.... we can't even find a single piece of oyster in there!!

Baked cheese+ham foccacia, RM4.80. Plenty of cheese is good, but other than the taste of cheese and ham, we don't taste any other else.

Red bean sago ABC, RM4.80. A good try, nice taste, nice view.

Claypot braised duck with rice and dried seaweed, RM9.80. Also a good try, good taste except it was too salty that helped u to eat more rice, kakaka.
Price rate: Consider cheap according to the portion. But service - a big no, I won't go there for a second time.
