Fusion Haven

Date : 21/ 01 /2007

Venue : Fusion Haven Cafe & Restaurant

I saw this on the newspaper "Sin Chew Jit Poh". Captivated by the introduction and pictures of beautifully decorated food...keke

There was a coupon of 10% for every RM50 spent in the restaurant.... i cut it off, kekeke... used it at the restaurant oledi....

Usually restaurant captain won't give u their namecard unless u ask for it, this restaurant did without I asking , maybe they know I was there purposedly to eat......

Location Rate : 2.5/5

I've been there (Sri Petaling) for several times before but I've neva noticed this restaurant before. Not a very spacious one, the signboard is not noticeable with so many other signboard crowding around......

The interior design of the restaurant.... Dim lighting, many pictures of their dishes hanging on the wall, there were alot of namecards from their previous customers pinning on a polysterein board on the wall.

The meaning of fusion... I think the restaurant are suitable with the color of the tables and chairs, however not with the design and pattern. The tables and chairs were the chinese/ oriental/ kopitiam type......

Ambience Rate : 3/5

The Lunch of the day.....with Xiao Pang...

What we had for the day were not chef recommendation, our choice made simply by interest, keke...

Japanese-- Grilled Smoked Duck Rice

The appearance itself already raise ur appetite.

The taste is good, special .... the duck meat was not oily or greasy at all as it might look so, but it was kind of chewy.

The herb fried rice, topped with pasta sauce and baked..... neva tasted before. Good try.

Portugese Chicken Baked Rice

A strong taste of curry powder... steamingly hot baked rice. For ppl like to eat baked rice and curry might like it.

Japanese + Chinese -- Unagi Rice Noodle Rolls

Well, I don't like it. Taste ok, problem lies with the chewy rice noodle in it, i would prefer rice instead of the weird rice noodle. And the rolls were not crispy..... = (

French -- MushRoom Soup

Thumbs up for the home cooked mushroom soup, i'm sure it was not from a can.

As for the drinks.... moderate only.... like what we always had in other restaurants....

There were still plenty of dishes and choices on the menu, with only 2 persons, we really can't manage to try as many as possible.... next time ya, welcome all to join our eat-eat club.... haha.....

Service rate : 4.2/5

The service is always good enough for every customers. The attendee will always ask customers for some feedback.

Maybe they saw us taking photos so I got alot of attentions from them, haha.... the captain even purposedly offered me his namecard, asked me about my opinions on the food... blah blah.... alrite, i'm just a gal who likes to eat around...

Price and Cost : if u can afford KimGary, u definitely can afford it also, with better service and taste compared with it. To be honest, I went KimGary for only 3 times, each at different branches, everytime due to accompanying others, none had manage to give me nice experience. The taste was no good, the service was poor. I have not stepped into any of KimGary ever.

Sunday

Bombay Palace

I've always been tempted to have a try in this restaurant everytime I drove passed it. It's easily seen on the roadside of Jalan Tun Razak, near KLCC. Looked grand, like a palace.

And the day came, I went for a dinner with family.

And the rates and comments we gave for the restaurant are as below :

Ambience: 4 /5 , nice ambience, glim lighting, it's furnished like an old british-indian banglo. Silver cuttery with customary printed "Bombay Palace" plates..... There are also a group of 4 musicians, playing traditional indian drums. So there is music along with ur meals, luxury.

Taste: 3.5/5, the menu, when u see it, wow, so many choices, different ways of cooking all types of meats and veggies, u neva tot that curry can be so variable. For foreigners, it's really a good place to go for. For Malaysian, we used to eat alot of spicy food already, this might just not a cup of tea for us. The heavy touch of herbs and spices in every delicacies and dishes is fabulous, I love it. But we all think they could be more hot and spicy. We prefer hot hot chillis, haha.

Service: 2.5/5, I don't really think that is the kind of service for a famous+ star rated restaurant. We may be there too early (6.30pm, just the right time they resumed business time for dinner session), but I don't think we should be neglected that time. Not being served for quite some minutes, no drinks, no tit-bits..... my family was very unsatisfied with it. Only one praise for the free flow of freshly fried crispy snacks as starter comes with 6 choices of sauce...
Price: 3.5/5 ,The price you can imagine for a star rated restaurant, located in the centre of the city, grandly furnished, still considered reasonable. However, not worthy for the service.
Hmm... if u are looking for delicious food despite of the ambience, Steven's Corner of Cheras and Muthu's Curry of JB can easily outstand it...at a better price too.... hahaha.....

Why become a vet?

Dr. Rashid gave us an assignment last week, to write a letter to him, telling him why we wan to become a vet.

Surprised, it sounds childish, like an essay topic for a primary school kid. It’s interesting though and spent me quite some time to write. The letter was not long, but I spent a lot of time on thinking, flashing back, trying to remember and wonder what actually had made me to become a vet.

My letter was like below:

To Dr. Rashid:

There are many reasons that I wanted to be a vet. Although I’ve had many different ambitions before, becoming a vet was a decision made since many years ago, and had never been changed.

My father, who is doing an ornamental fish trading, has influenced me a lot. I spent a lot of my childhood time in the aquarium. There were also other animals like mice, rabbits, dogs, iguanas, snails and tortoises. Therefore, I was exposed earlier to colorful fishes and exotic animals since young.

However, I have yet become an animal enthusiast until I got a pet puppy from a friend when I was in secondary school, form 2. He is a mongrel, named Dino, and looks a lot like a beagle, very cute but temperament. Due to our carelessness, at the age of 4 months old, he fell down from a sofa when we were playing with him and somehow broke his both hind limbs. He became paralyzed and was bearing weight on only his front limbs. We sent him to a well-known vet in Johor Bahru for check-up and had an x-ray. According to the vet, Dino had fractures and dislocation of pelvic bones. The brief explanation of the vet did not make me understand what actually happened on my dog’s hip. I could not even figure where exactly the fractures were by the flash of sight of the radiograph. The suggestion of the vet was: the dog had to be on cast and there will be inconvenience at mobilization for at least 3 months; if economic condition does concern, we were recommended to put the dog to sleep. Given a few days for reconsideration, we brought our dog home. The choice of putting our dog to sleep was really hard to make for us, and we were upset and cried for the whole next 2 days. All we did was giving Dino a lot of massaging gently everyday. Now, Dino is over 8 years old and approaching 9, healthy and standing up right, running. Dino miraculously stood on foot on the third day after the visiting to vet, before we could ever make a choice. What really did happen, we never know, maybe it was a miracle of the massaging, or the bond we had with the dog, or the strong will Dino had to keep living on.

Apart from these, I also like to watch documentary shows about wild life. I admired the beauty of nature and the incredibility of wild life. I especially like to see tigers a lot. By becoming a vet or a zoologist, I will be able to approach these animals which common people can never do.

I want to become a responsible vet. I want my clients to understand what problems actually their animals are having. I also want to encourage them to become responsible owner: do not simply put their pets to sleep; neuter their pets for non-breeding purpose; care for their pets. I wish to have wild life approach one day in the great land of Africa, to see animals living freely in nature and their welfare taken care of.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are also things that I did not mention in the letter…..

After all these years, I’ve already long forgotten when was the exact date that I’ve made the decision to become a vet. Since then, I suddenly became enthusiast in animals, I started to read about how to become a vet, where to study vet, what can a vet do.

Sometimes, I don’t really think I’m a very caring person to animals. I do like them very much though. But I will occasionally think that I’m actually a cruel person. I have no fear every times when coming in contact with blood and flesh although I don’t anyhow kill. Shouldn’t every single normal human being be scared upon the sights of blood and flesh?! I wonder how does a human medic student think in this point of view. Do they have to kill as many as we do? Do they see blood as many and often as we do?

For the day of becoming a vet, I’ve actually trained myself by playing guitar, doing a lot of crafts. All these years, I’m quite confident that I have a pair of steady hands and fingers that I hold scalpels and needles like holding drawing brushes and craft knifes.

It’s kinda conflict when I started to realize of the border line of killing and saving life that I’m standing on. On average, I’ve been seeing deaths every day, by nature, by accidents or directly through my hands. Life is so fragile, and we will never know what would happen next. I will feel death is sore now, but will I still do in the future?

Another conflict is that of animal’s welfare. The reality is the situation that made the mission of animal’s welfare impossible. So what actually can a vet do? Why become a vet? All these are still confusing as long as publics have no realization and cooperation.

Subang Jaya.
